On Dec. 10, 2025, the Center for China and Globalization (CCG) and the Embassy of Belgium in China co-hosted a Francophonie Seminar on “The Future of Multilateralism” at the CCG Beijing Academy.

The event brought together Francophone envoys from the member and observer states of the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), along with Chinese students, for a panel discussion followed by a networking lunch.

CCG has previously organized a 2021 dialogue with Francophone ambassadors in China co-hosted with the Embassy of Switzerland in China, and a 2022 roundtable co-organized with the Embassy of Tunisia in China.

The event was hosted by Max Recollecte, Second Secretary (press, public diplomacy) at the Embassy of Belgium in Beijing.

The seminar opened with welcome remarks from CCG Founder and President Henry Huiyao Wang.

Bruno Angelet, Ambassador of Belgium to China, delivered the opening remarks on behalf of the Group of Francophone Ambassadors (GAF).

Following the opening segment, the event transitioned into a panel discussion titled “Perspectives on Multilateralism” (L’avenir du multilatéralisme) moderated by Zhang Shanhui, French-speaking TV anchor at CGTN French.

The session brought together

Rol Reiland, Ambassador of Luxembourg to China

Ibrahima Sory Sylla, Ambassador of Senegal to China

Ambassador of Burundi Télesphore Irambona, Ambassador of Bulgaria Andrey Tehov, and Ambassador of Benin Franck Adjagba were also present.

After the panel, the seminar opened the floor for a Q&A session with the audience, which included students from the University of International Business and Economics and Beijing Foreign Studies University.
