The book The Asian 21st Century, authored by Singapore veteran diplomat Kishore Mahbubani, is part of the “China and Globalization” series that edited by Prof. Wang Huiyao and Prof. Miao Lu and has received broad attention internationally.

CCG was very honored to take on the task of developing a Chinese-language edition of the book, which has been published by CITIC Press Group. On July 19th, CCG co-hosted a book launch event with CITIC Press, during which the Prof. Wang Huiyao introduced the book and discussed this new publication:

Prof. Kishore Mahbubani my dear friend, distinguished guests, all the media friends, ladies and gentlemen. It’s really a great honor for me to speak on behalf of Center for China and Globalization.

I am Henry Huiyao Wang, President and Founder of Center for China and Globalization. Today we are working with CITIC Press, we are thrilled to celebrate the latest work with you all today, the launch of the Chinese edition of The Asian 21st Century by Prof. Kishore Mahbubani.

The book The Asian 21st Century, authored by Prof. Kishore Mahbubani, is a well-known book. It is part of the “China and Globalization”book series that is published by Spinger Nature, which myself and Dr. Mabel Lu Miao, Secretary-General of CCG, had a privilege to edit. The book has received broad attention internationally. Now it has been downloaded over 3 million times world-wide, which has broke the record, and has been really very remarkable for the books in social science, international relations domain. And we have just celebrated the 3-million-download marking day not too long ago. Prof. Kishore Mahbubani and I were in France, at the global CEO Forum there, so I congratulated Prof. Kishore Mahbubani, it’s really a great piece. Now we’re glad to see the Chinese version is coming out, so congratulations, Prof. Kishore Mahbubani!

After the success of this well-known English book, CCG felt it’s a such great book that we need to recommend it to our Chinese readers, so we have done the translation and also put into a good production process, and we are really appreciate our partner, the CITIC Press, particularity Hong Yonggang, the Chief Editor, and Jiang Yongjun, the Chief Publisher, and Zhang Yingjie, Xiao Nan, Liang Mingyue, so many CITIC editorial staff to help put this beautiful book into Chinese, the publication is really very valuable. I think this book will gain wide attention again in China. Just like last time, we were very honored to translate Prof. Mahbubani’s last book, Has China Won? . That book has become a best seller in China. I think this book will get much attention just like the English edition did internationally, even more attention in China, so I highly recommend this book which outlines a very important geopolitical (change) and also a phenomenan that Asia is rising and Asia is playing a more important role in international area, also more economically becomes the power house of the world. Actually the 21st Century will be largely and also very actively contributed by the Asian countries. So I’m very pleased to recommend this book to Chinese (readers), and also Kishore is really a good old friend of mine, we’ve known each other for 10-20 years, and we are very pleased to collaborate.

Now that Kishore has come to Beijing, has come to CCG, to personally launch this book, it’s really enormous. This is very much appreciated. I’m sure that this book will give the Chinese readers a fruitful thought, and rouse a lot of debates, and can think about the role Asia can play, China can play, and how we can work together in this multi-polar world to safe-guard the prosperity and the peace we’ve been fighting for, so this is really a great book. I think this occasion is marvellous, we have so many media friends (came today).

Ever since this book came out, we have so many questions raised by all the well-known media in China, so I think today we have this rare opportunity for Prof. Kishore Mahbubani personally come to CGG and to explain his latest thought, and latest travel experience between the East and West. I’m sure he has so much to say about, we are so honored to publish Prof. Kishore’s Chinese book version of The Asian 21st Century.

I apologize because I’m still travelling in the Europe and actually going to US tomorrow, I want to send my greatest, heart-felt congratulations to Kishore again, I’m sure your book will do very well in China again, just like the last one we translated.

Thanks to Kishore, to all the CITIC Press colleagues and all our media friends, and other distinguished guests presenting today.
